Medha, as a DMU propulsion system developer, offers design, manufacture, supply and commissioning of single or multiple diesel engine based, complete propulsion system along with train control and communications for Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) vehicles with power rating from 700 HP to 2000 HP.

Interface development with doors, brakes, HVAC, surveillance, fire protection and other sub-systems is to suit customer requirements.

  • Traction converter: 2 units, 550kW per unit, underframe mounted, IGBT based and forced air cooled, 32 bit DSP based traction computers, bogie control
  • AC traction motors: 250kW, 3000rpm, self ventilated, axle hung, nose suspended
  • Controls: microprocessor based vehicle control computer, WTB train communication network
  • Driver desk: complete with 10.4" TFT LCD display screen and various controls
  • Battery bank: 24VDC (engine starting) and 110VDC (train auxiliary loads)
  • Passenger information system (audio/visual)
  • Efficiency at full load: traction alternator 95%, diode rectifier 99.5%, traction converter 98.5%, AC traction motor 93%, gear box 98%
