Passenger and Freight

A locomotive provides the motive power for a train consist. Unlike self-propelled trains or multiple units such as EMUs and DEMUs, a locomotive is not designed to carry passengers or cargo by itself but to pull or push coaches or wagons that do. While doing so, it also power all the auxiliaries onboard and in the passenger coaches from the head unit.

Medha specializes in all types of locomotives based on different power sources such as Diesel, Multi-engine Diesel, Electric, Bi-Mode (Diesel + overhead electric), Hybrid (Diesel + Battery), Battery Electric (BEL), and Hydrogen.

Medha has collaborated in over 2800 new locomotive builds, and over 3000 modernisations, as well as out of frame restoration of retired locomotives. Locomotive solutions Medha have been involved range from bespoke industrial locomotives, and shunters to heavy haul with powers ranging from 400 hp to 9000 hp.
