Semi-high-speed trains named Train-18, developed in collaboration between Medha and ICF, are now operational with 50 units in service. Each train has a power rating of 11.5MW, consists of 16 coaches, 8 of which 50% are motorized, and are designed to operate at a maximum speed of 180 km/hr.
Medha’s monorail trains feature lightweight Aluminium bodies, ensuring sturdiness alongside improved energy efficiency. Equipped with Communication Based Train Control (CBTC), they offer precise movement control at Grade of Automation 2 (GOA2), with potential upgrade to GOA4, enabling fully autonomous operation.

With their frequent service, comfortable interiors, smooth ride, and accessibility features, these metro trains are a popular choice for commuters in Kolkata. 18 trains are currently operational with 8 car formation (50% motorised).
New 6000 hp WAP5 locomotive designed and manufactured with collaborative efforts between MEDHA and Chittaranjan Locomotive Works. The locomotive will operate in a push-pull configuration comprising of two locomotives stationed at each end of 22 passenger coaches.
Medha’s traction technology powers the Stadler DEMU-ARST, a high-performance diesel-electric multiple unit tailored for regional and commuter services across Italy. 7 trains are currently in operation with 25 more to follow.
Medha successfully converts the EMD GP9 Diesel Locomotive to a first-of-its-kind Battery Electric model in the USA, marking a pioneering step in sustainable rail technology.
Medha successfully converted two 1950s locomotives, the SW1200 and SW1500, into state-of-the-art battery-electric locomotives in Texas, USA, in July 2023, with commissioning completed in September 2023. This project showcases a proven model for adaptive reuse and offers an accelerated pathway to decarbonization.

The Socofer Locotractor is a compact, versatile rail vehicle designed for shunting and light-duty tasks in industrial rail settings. Socofer, a French company with a long-standing history in rail engineering, manufactures locotractors primarily to support efficient operations in rail yards, manufacturing facilities, and other specialized environments. Medha’s bespoke traction packages, is used in Socofer Locotractor. At the conclusion of the delivery, there will 6 such vehicles operating with Medha technology.
Socofer, a French company, provides specialized rail vehicles engineered for effective track maintenance and tunnel operations. These robustly designed vehicles offer eco-friendly solutions for infrastructure inspection and upkeep across urban and regional rail networks. Socofer vehicles integrate Medha’s custom traction packages. Upon completion of the project, seventeen of these specialized vehicles will operate with Medha technology
