Electrical Multiple Unit’s (EMU) are designed for shorter distance urban transit and for frequent stops and high capacity passenger movement. Medha has collaboratively delivered 84 trainsets for Mumbai and suburban transit. Each trainset has 12 coaches each with an acceleration of 0.54m/s2 (0-40Km/hr), a power output of 1300kW and maximum speed of 110Km/hr.
Mainline Electric Multiple Units (MEMUs) are a type of EMU designed for operation on mainline tracks, primarily to connect city centers with suburban areas. MEMUs are optimized for short- to medium-distance routes with high passenger volumes and frequent stops, offering efficient transport solutions for heavily trafficked regions. Medha has collaborated in the new build of 115 Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU), each train consist comprising of 8 coaches each. Medha MEMU’s have 968 kW power per motor coach and can operate up to a a speed of 110 km/h.
Medha has been involved in over 1500 locomotive modernisations, as well as out of frame restoration of retired locomotives. Medha has designed, manufactured, and integrated a complete battery-electric powertrain kit, including battery storage and management units, for 9 new Greenco intercity coaches as part of a 100 bus contract. With 91 buses currently under construction, the initial 9 buses have already been successfully placed into operation.
