Battery Electric Multiple Unit

BEMU’s are self-propelled train sets that use electricity from onboard battery power source. They consist of multiple carriages, multiple of them with its own traction motors and control equipment. BEMU’s are slowly gaining popularity as battery storages are becoming more energy dense, safe and cost competitive. BEMU’s mainly function as metro or suburban trains. Medha provides its full suite of traction products and energy storage system for BEMU’s.

Medha’s BEMU solution can be interspersed with DEMU carriages to enable opportunistic switching between Diesel and Battery to reduce pollution in urban regions.

Medha’s BEMU solution can also be equipped with pantograph for opportunistic charging in electrified section of a network.
