Medha is one of the three companies contracted to manufacture and rollout the Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS), alternatively known as Kavach.
Kavach is a unique Automatic Train Protection System using RFID tags and dedicated wireless radio communication with wayside. Kavach has SIL4 compliant Train Collision Avoidance System overlay on electronic interlocking to safeguard against interlocking wrong side failures
Kavach functions by automatically applying brakes to prevent collisions, ensuring the safety of passengers and railway personnel. It utilizes advanced technologies like ultra-high-frequency (UHF) radio communication and on-board displays to monitor track conditions and alert drivers.
Medha is contracted to install Kavach for 900Km stretch and on 200 Locomotives. This will significantly enhance the safety and efficiency of India’s vast railway network.
