Overview
Medha’s ARINC 818 Video and Protocol Analyzer (VPA) is a diagnostic tool for analysing Avionics Digital Video Bus (ADVB) packets, including custom data and video streams. It captures, decodes and displays raw protocol data using a range of configurable trigger conditions.
Built on a compact PCIe platform, the VPA interfaces with a host PC through PCIe. It also operates as a bidirectional video converter, supporting real-time HDMI-to-ARINC 818 and ARINC 818-to-HDMI conversion.
Key Features
- High-Capacity Trace Capture: Captures up to 4 GB of raw data, which can be saved for offline analysis.
- Detailed Tabular Data View: Displays raw data in an easy-to-read grid, including byte offsets, time, Dwords from MSB to LSB, data type and the exact location within the ADVB frame.
- Data Search: Searches for user-defined data or predefined ordered sets within the raw ARINC 818 data pool using the histogram tool.
- Live Video Verification: Displays live video through a built-in viewing window that can be expanded to full-screen resolution.
- Captured Video Verification: Enables captured video frames to be reviewed through the built-in Analyzer View in full-screen resolution.
- Data Histogram: Provides a colour-coded visual representation of ARINC 818 data frames, distinguishing between Idles, Frame Headers, Container Headers, Object 0 Data and Video Data.
- Header View: Displays complete frame-container information, including the FC Frame Header, Container Header and Object 0 Ancillary Data.
- Container Statistics: Displays real-time metrics such as total container size, total FC frames, FC Frame 0 size, FC Frame 1–N sizes and counts for SOFi, SOFn, EOFn, EOFt, CRC, Disparity, Code and Sync.
- Frame Statistics: Displays individual frame size and counts for SOFi, SOFn, EOFn, EOFt, CRC, Disparity, Code and Sync.
- Link Status Monitoring: Monitors Sync Link, SOFi/EOFt pairs, SOFn, Comma, Idle OS, EOFn, SOFi, EOFt, CRC Check, Code Violation, Running Disparity errors and Optical Detector status.
- Flexible Trigger Modes: Supports Immediate, Trigger-on-Error, Trigger-on-Value, Trigger-on-Time and Ordered Set triggers, including IDLE, SOFi, SOFn, EOFn and EOFt.
- Complex Triggering: Supports up to four levels of multilayer trigger conditions within the ADVB data.
- Data Filtering: Filters captured data by selected ARINC 818 objects, including Object 0, Object 2 and custom data, reducing unnecessary data and file size.
- Pre-Trigger Capture: Captures and displays critical data occurring before the trigger event using a configurable pre-trigger time.
- Bidirectional Video Conversion: Converts HDMI input to an ARINC 818 output stream and incoming ARINC 818 data to HDMI video output. Incoming ARINC 818 data can also be retransmitted through the ARINC 818 output.
